Coconut Kava Shots

First trial on this product! Worth it! I feel so relaxed after having it! Best one so far

This is the best flavor I have had either Kava on it. We can't find TakiMai items locally. Would gladly taste and review others! :-)

I ordered the variety pack of kava shots so that I could try the different flavors. Each shot is 2. 5 oz, with only 25 calories per shot, and the pack come with 2 of each flavor-pineapple, guava, coconut, mango, and chocolate banana. Honestly, the different added flavor did not really matter as they all tasted pretty bad. Thankfully each shot is pretty small, so I just pretended I was in some dive bar back in college and downed them in one gulp like a lukewarm tequila shot. (I did keep these in the fridge as suggested. ) They have an instant numbing effect on the mouth which is weirdly kind of pleasant. I noticed the calming effect about 20 minutes in. I didn't feel high or buzzed, just mellow. This is my first experience with kava so I can't comment on how it compares to other brands, but it seems high quality. It's easy to take as long as you can get over the taste. Decent value for the amount you get, it seems about average for this kind of product.

These Kava shots taste absolutely awful. This is what I imagine George’s marvelous medicine tastes like. Fortunately, you can take them down in one gulp and get rid of the aftertaste with some tea or water. It might be the placebo effect, but I have been sleeping better lately. Normally I wake up in the night and after a few minutes need to use the bathroom. Since I started taking these, I often sleep through the night. The biggest downside aside the taste is that they are expensive. I could fill my car for the price of this 10 pack. The price means I only take them when I’m feeling restless at night and really need to catch up on sleep.

Coconut was my least favorite flavor. Definitely make sure they are chilled. I drank them straight (kinda like a shot). One bottle made me feel relaxed. The price seems reasonable. Will purchase again.

This Kava product has been my first and only time taking kava, and while I think it's interesting, I'm not sure I'd try it again in the future - even with a variety of flavors, ultimately this isn't a drink one enjoys for the taste, and I'm on the fence about how kava makes me feel (which would be the main reason for buying this drink)It has a slightly sharp smell from the kava, and the taste is a bit earthy despite the fruit and other flavoringsIf you do like kava, get the variety pack as it's better value than the individual flavor packs (unless you only like one of the flavors, but you wouldn't know unless you tried all of them)

I picked up the chocolate banana flavor hoping it would be more palatable than traditional kava, but I have to be honest - the taste is pretty challenging. Despite the name, there's barely any chocolate or banana flavor coming through. It's thin, bitter, and leaves an unpleasant aftertaste that lingers longer than I'd like. That said, the benefits are definitely there. I've been using these shots for when I need to wind down after stressful days, and they do deliver on the relaxation promise. Within 20-30 minutes, I feel a noticeable sense of calm wash over me. My sleep has been more restful, and I'm not tossing and turning as much as usual. The tingles in your mouth are real - kind of like a mild numbing sensation - but that goes away fairly quickly. The 2. 5 oz bottles are perfectly sized - you can knock it back quickly and get it over with. I do wish they could improve the flavor profile. For something marketed as "chocolate banana," it tastes more like bitter herbal medicine with a slight fruity undertone. The 6 grams of sugar per bottle doesn't seem to help mask the earthiness at all. Bottom line: if you're looking for natural stress relief and better sleep, these work. Just don't expect them to taste good. I chase mine with some juice or water to clear the aftertaste. The relaxation benefits make it worth tolerating the flavor, but I'll probably try a different variety next time to see if any taste better.

These little flavor shot drinks are tasty. I specially like the pineapple flavor. I really enjoyed the smell of the drink, it wasn't very overwhelming and it was pleasant. I could tell the drink had good quality just from the taste and the smell. It definitely gave me a boost so the functionality of the drink is there. I would say this is a very good value for your money as you are getting a six pack of these. I feel like you could drink them and one go or they would be good mixed in other drinks, especially an orange drink.

i have tried Kava before from a Kava cafe and I would say this is on par with what I got there. It's earthy and slightly gritty. It makes your tongue feel a little numb too. I did not like how sweet this was - I think it would be better if it was less sweet and mixed with other flavors found in tea, like peach green tea, lemon, hibiscus, etc. Chocolate banana is a stretch. I have drank kava in place of alcohol for social gatherings, not for sleep. I also thought kava was calming for work, instead of sleep. Overall, I don't really want to drink anymore of these shots but at least they're small. I didn't love the other times I tried kava, though, to be fair. If you KNOW you like kava, then I think you would like this.

These are an ok way to get taki mai kava. They make my tongue feel numb when I drink them. It’s kind of a medicinal taste. It not horrible but not great. I gave up on taking Mai powder because it was high maintenance and tasted gross. This one at least has a little flavor and it’s a small. Kava is known to be relaxing so I take this at night. I think it helps to chill out a little bit. If you want or need kava it’s not delicious but better than the last couple I’ve tried.

These are small, INTENSE shots of kava EXTRACT with flavoring added. Even if you've previously had kava, be prepared: these little guys are punch-you-in-the-face bitter! But on the flip side, they are also pretty concentrated. Each tiny bottle contains 2. 2g of kava EXTRACT, not just kava powder. I don't know what the equivalent mass of kava powder would be, but man. . . these are strong. They smell pleasant enough, and they are "easy" to drink in the sense that they don't contain a lot of gritty pulp. If the grittiness of kava is a turn-off for you, then these would be a good value, though they are clearly more expensive than other kava sources. I'm not personally a regular consumer of kava, so it's hard to comment on their functionality effectively, but they certainly have an almost instant numbing effect on the tongue!

My wife and I are always up for trying new supplements, and Kava is new to us. This "Taki Mai Pacific Kava Kava Drink Shot Variety Pack 2. 5oz (10 Pack)" seemed like a good product to try, given the variety of flavors. Having tasted it now, it's not something that we would ever crave. First, let's get this out of the way. As I write this review, the standard retail price for a 10-pack of 2. 5-ounce bottles is an incredible $44. 99, but they often have checkout coupons to lower the price. Without the coupons, prepare to pay $1. 80 per ounce, or $4. 50 per shot bottle. To put that in perspective, a gallon of gasoline currently costs around $2. 75. A gallon of this Taki Mai costs $230. 35 at the current non-discounted standard retail price. I would hate to be hooked on these shots and have to order a new supply every 10 days at a non-discounted price. It has the appearance of muddy water when viewed from the bottom (see photo). The taste is bitter. Even with the pineapple flavoring, a strong bitter aftertaste remained. I would rather drink Pepto-Bismol or NyQuil than this. Your tongue will go numb for a few minutes. I split a bottle into three sips. My wife had said her tongue went numb, and she wasn't kidding. However, I've had a popcorn hull lodged between a molar and gum for a couple of days that was giving me some pain. So I held some of the Kava over that area with my tongue for a minute, and the gum pain went away. If you're experiencing similar tooth or gum pain, this can provide some short-term relief. That was an unexpected benefit. The numbing must mean it's a genuine, quality Kava product.

Look. These taste NASTY. My partner and I both agree on that. I guess it's possible that some of these other people talking about a pleasant taste actually tried it and liked it, but whooo boy not us. Nope. It's just gross. It will also leave your mouth / tongue feeling a little tingle, like a numbness kinda like how szechuan pepper does. Not a horrible thing but it's a little weird. For how horrible the taste is, 6 grams of sugar per serving feels too much. I limit sugar due to health issues, and the sugar in these definitely isn't covering up that taste. Or adding anything like a sweetness. Seems dumb. Did I mention it tastes awful? Seriously. BE PREPARED. All that said: If kava works for you, it's a pretty good take on kava. It doesn't taste any worse than most of the kava I've tried in the past (because y'all, kava tastes bad) and having it premixed and not having to strain it through hosiery is worth the cost and nasty taste to have on hand. Also, there are things that are risky about kava. Don't just buy random stuff on teh web without knowing what you're buying, sheesh. Do some research, it's seriously not hard to find what effects you might need to be concerned about. Personally, I take it real easy with kava and just have it every now and again when I have a good reason to, and these will last a while because of that. My partner said it tastes so bad he doesn't want to go back for another, but I'll choke it down when I need it. I do wish it was lower sugar though. Seriously seems like such a ridiculous waste of sugar when it's not even adding a sweet taste into the awful stuff. Did I mention it tastes awful? Just so you know.

When you open the bottle you get a whiff of a beautiful quality fruit juice. And that fruit is definitely prominent in the drink. But the drink also tastes like kava kava, which is like cough syrup. It's much milder than an energy drink, though. The color isn't terribly appetizing - like muddy water - so just don't put it in a clear cup. You can easily use it by mixing with water or other juice or just drink it plain. It gives your mouth and throat a VERY mild numbness, on its way to giving you the benefit of relaxation, which it definitely does. I like this for a little treat. It's only 25 calories.

Never had kava before, have to say it's a strange sensation. Effectively calms you down, but maybe not in the way you expect. For me the effect I got was feeling sleepy, but I guess that means it works? Perhaps effectiveness varies from person to person. Having tried all the flavors now I have to say I like pineapple, mango, and coconut better than the others. The drinks are quite smooth, but leaves a weird numbing feeling in your mouth, and has a bitter aftertaste, that's just how kava is I'm finding out. There are risks to kava, but from the description these should be the safe quality kind made from noble kava. Good value for people missing a piece of home from the pacific, or for those interested in trying something new.

They don’t. They definitely taste different, much sweeter, but imo not better. But the good news is that it’s such a small amount I can just chug it real quick, unlike the powdered drinks. The first time I drank kava my mouth tingled and became numb. So I did some research, which I probably should’ve done before I drank it. I found out that the numb mouth, or kava mouth, is part of the experience of drinking kava. It is a little strange feeling, and a little scary if you’re not expecting it. But now that I know it’s normal, I look forward to that feeling which tells me if it’s quality kava or not. According to the numbness in my mouth, this is a good quality kava. I could also tell it was a good quality due to my level of calmness and serenity throughout the day. So even though I’m not thrilled with the taste of these, I am very happy with the quality.

Best not to pour this in a glass so you don't have to look at it. Fortunately, this one is infused with pineapple, which gives it a flavor that is nicer than plain kava. Kava usually has a bitter, earthy flavor that many people don't like. The pineapple largely (but not entirely) masks this. I like pineapple after living in Hawaii for years, so I didn't mind drinking this, but it's not as good as just plain pineapple juice. After about half an hour, I did have the slightest feeling of drowsiness, and I was definitely relaxed. I was not so drowsy that I had to sleep, but I could have taken a nap.
