I ordered the variety pack of kava shots so that I could try the different flavors. Each shot is 2. 5 oz, with only 25 calories per shot, and the pack come with 2 of each flavor-pineapple, guava, coconut, mango, and chocolate banana. Honestly, the different added flavor did not really matter as they all tasted pretty bad. Thankfully each shot is pretty small, so I just pretended I was in some dive bar back in college and downed them in one gulp like a lukewarm tequila shot. (I did keep these in the fridge as suggested. ) They have an instant numbing effect on the mouth which is weirdly kind of pleasant. I noticed the calming effect about 20 minutes in. I didn't feel high or buzzed, just mellow. This is my first experience with kava so I can't comment on how it compares to other brands, but it seems high quality. It's easy to take as long as you can get over the taste. Decent value for the amount you get, it seems about average for this kind of product.
These Kava shots taste absolutely awful. This is what I imagine George’s marvelous medicine tastes like. Fortunately, you can take them down in one gulp and get rid of the aftertaste with some tea or water. It might be the placebo effect, but I have been sleeping better lately. Normally I wake up in the night and after a few minutes need to use the bathroom. Since I started taking these, I often sleep through the night. The biggest downside aside the taste is that they are expensive. I could fill my car for the price of this 10 pack. The price means I only take them when I’m feeling restless at night and really need to catch up on sleep.
Coconut was my least favorite flavor. Definitely make sure they are chilled. I drank them straight (kinda like a shot). One bottle made me feel relaxed. The price seems reasonable. Will purchase again.
