I did expedited shipping twice and both times they shipped it using FedEx Ground. I’ll keep ordering, but I might as well not throw my money away requesting premium shipping options.
I’m still waiting for delivery
Never tried Kava before, thought I would give it a go after seeing all the ads and hype about it. Made sure I hadn't eaten anything for 10 hours and gave the instant mix a go. Had half the packet at first and waited an hour. When nothing happened I had the second half. Tingly lips for a few minutes but no euphoric relaxation as seen in the promos. I'm glad I only got the little amount and didn't waste too much money.
10 grams Kava
60 mL Pineapple juice
10 grams Ginger cordial
80 mL Water
Enjoy!
That sounds amazing! Thanks so much for sharing your recipe!:hibiscus:
10g kava + pineapple juice + ginger cordial sounds like the perfect combo for a tasty, relaxing drink. We love seeing how everyone gets creative with their kava. This is definitely one we’ll be trying!
I'm now completely alcohol free and it wasn't hard to do with Kava to chill out with when the going gets tough - or it's Tuesday - whichever comes first :-)
Wow, this is incredible to read and thank you for sharing :blue_heart:
Huge congratulations on being completely alcohol free :raised_hands: We’re so glad kava has been a helpful part of winding down.
We really appreciate you taking the time to leave this review. :hibiscus:
Excellent Kava. Great quality
Thank you so much for the great review!:blue_heart: We’re really happy to hear you’re enjoying the kava and loving the quality. :hibiscus:
It’s real instant, not micronised, which is a plus. It’s cheap - another plus. However it’s not very strong and I need to use 1. 5 times the amount. There is an odd taste like the Taki Mai shots, which I personally don’t prefer to the other brands I’ve used. But it’s fine and good value
Thanks for your feedback, we appreciate it. We’re glad you found the Instant Kava good value, though we’re sorry the strength and taste weren’t quite what you expected. Everyone’s preferences and sensitivity can differ, and your comments help us improve.
Thanks again for your honest review.
Great product. Good value for money
Thanks so much for the 5-star review! We're glad to hear you’re enjoying the product and find it great value. We appreciate your support!
I decided to try Taki Mai after using a different brand, which was also instant and around the same cost. The product is just as effective and the website was easy to use and provided fast shipping service. I would purchase this product again in the future.
Thanks for the great review! We’re glad you found the product effective and the ordering/shipping process smooth. We appreciate your support and look forward to having you back again!
I generally enjoy the taste of kava and this brand has created a product with a nice earthy flavor and a very smooth consistency with a nice silky mouthfeel. The effects are relaxing with a light euphoria that isn’t overwhelming. I will definitely purchase again.
Thanks so much for the wonderful review! We’re glad you’re enjoying the flavour, smooth texture, and relaxing effects. We appreciate your support and look forward to your next order!
Takes a lot to feel any calming effect for me - 1 to 2 tablespoons but otherwise fine - just doesn’t last very long.
Thanks so much for the feedback
Everyone responds a bit differently to kava, so it can sometimes take some experimenting to find what works best, but we always recommend staying within the serving. Some people also find kava works better after consistent use for a little while (a kind of “reverse tolerance”).
Difficult to fully mix in to liquid, and has a slightly strange taste. Noticed a little bit of an effect, not huge though
Thanks so much for the honest feedback .
The taste and texture of kava can definitely be a bit different at first. It can help to mix it well in a shaker bottle or stir, some people also like it with juice or coconut water to soften the flavour. We’re glad you noticed some effect.
The kava powder I've tried is a finely ground powder that can be difficult to filter out sediment from. This has led to stomach discomfort and gas for me after consumption, especially when prepared traditionally. Upon trying this kava, I found its flavor to be earthy but sweet, with a moderate strength and balanced heady then heavy effects. However, the taste was not pleasant and was somewhat off-putting. Overall, the experience with this kava has been mixed, with its strong effects and unique flavor contrasting with the unpleasant aftertaste and potential stomach discomfort.
I’m not new to kava, but I’ve mostly stuck to traditional grinds until now. This one caught my eye because of how finely ground it is—almost flour-like. I was curious to see if the smoother texture would be more convenient than wrestling with a strainer bag. And while it definitely blends easier into water, there’s a catch: it’s also much easier to overdo. The good news? The effects are legit. I felt it kick in gently, easing my mind and taking the edge off after a long workday. For someone like me who’s cut back on alcohol, this has been a decent way to relax without reaching for a drink. The flavor isn’t worse than most kavas—it’s earthy, sure, but not offensively bitter. The bad news? If you’re not cautious, the ultra-fine texture makes it hard to filter, and if you drink the grit, your stomach might not thank you later. After my first few cups, I noticed some mild queasiness that reminded me why I usually prefer traditional grind. I’ve since cut back the dose and it’s been smoother, but the product would benefit from clearer prep instructions or a warning for those new to micronized kava. Still, if you go light and prep it properly (like steeping and straining slowly through a cloth), it works well and gives you that calm, clear-headed space that good kava should. Just don’t treat it like a typical root blend, or your gut may protest.
When they're not obviously terrible, it's hard to tell with these sort of supplements how much they are doing for you. However, I'm going to tell you about my experience with this so far. I replaced my usual melatonin dose with this and while it was a softer effect, I found it a viable, effective alternative. Taste-wise, it wasn't as delightful as ice cream but it was offensive either. This is a natural supplement, after all. I did not notice any side effects at all but I have read that if you use antidepressants, this might not mix well with them. I'm very glad I had the opportunity to try this because I had been curious for a while. The only neutral thing I have to say about it is that at the $40 price point, it might not be accessible for everyone although, I do think it's worth a shot if you would like a natural alternative to pharmaceutical sleep aids.
Without reservation, I can say that I love this kava. I know that kava affects people differently, folks, and I know that the processing and the variety is an art. When I first tried this out, I assumed that the active kavalactone ratios would be energizing. It‚Äôs kind of funny. I put it in my coffee, and could not decide if I wanted to sleep or take a jog for the next two hours. Lol. So, perhaps this has more of the kavain and dihydrokavain than I expected. -These are not supplement claims at all‚Ķthis is very general speculation based on ‚Äúcommonly known‚Äù facts about kava and its kavalactone content, folks. Of course, I make no claims about this particular supplement. -It‚Äôs like having a coffee and speculating on the amount of caffeine and polyphenol content. (We all know that coffee has both, and that the ratios vary. )Things I love:-The SMELL! ‚ò∫Ô∏è:u00fc:ë:u00e7:-The taste (I have a unique palate, but it tastes like butterscotch to me. I love it. )-Quality ‚Äì Nothing rancid, nothing questionable in my bag. -Strong packaging (metallic film ‚Äì great for light protection and integrity)-Great powder consistency-I use it in hopes that it will increase my sleep quality-Easy to mix and easy to useBottom line:I like this kava. My batch seems like very good quality. (Which is important. )I can‚Äôt guarantee your experience. But for me, this is a treasured bedtime treat. (and I might be a long-term customer :u00fc:ë:u00e7:)Just my take, ‚ò∫Ô∏è thanks for reading!Reviewed by a graduate degree holder, passionate about good consumer reports. I’m a big fan of kava, and this instant powder did not disappoint! It mixed well, dissolved without excessive sediment, and went down smoothly. It feels calming and relaxing for my evening routine. The taste is like traditional kava, maybe a bit more mellow than some I’ve tasted. It definitely seems good quality for me and has that numbing feel right after you swallow it. This seems like a very reasonable cost with 1 tsp servings. This herb is a great option for my mood support, and I’m glad to have this particular brand and will seek it out in the future.
I picked up this Kava mix after a visit to Hawaii. I was surprised that they served us the traditional beverage at a luau, but I thought it was pretty good and wanted to continue enjoying it after I returned home. I mix a 1/2 scoop of powder with hot water (not boiling) and it blends right in. I drink it in a cup of hot chocolate. There is an earthy, chocolate-y tone to the kava and I think it tastes pretty good, but it is not what you are expecting and I don't really enjoy the flavor on its own. I find the Kava very relaxing. I take it at night after work before I go to bed. I feel like I sleep more deeply and wake up feeling refreshed after drinking this. My main complaint with the Kava is it is quite expensive and doesn't really fit into my budget. The recommended dose is 1 scoop a day so this pouch is 30 servings. I use a 1/2 scoop and am hoping to stretch it out to 2 months.
Taki Mai Instant Kava Kava Powder 150g [5. 2 oz] . From the ad: "Premium Kava Root Powder with High Kavalactone Content – Natural Relaxation Aid for Calmness, Stress Relief, and Sleep Support – Easy-to-Mix. "You can't tell from the ad images that the labeling has been changed, but if you look you see layers of labeling when you receive the package. It really sunk in for me when I removed a third layer (UPC Code) of labeling to see the batch # and expiration date (below) on what turned out to be a second label. That bit of exploration, scraping away the label from different angles, revealed there was an original label under everything else, printed directly on the sturdy resealable attractive plastic pouch that protects the product. Review is of:Batch: 1224B102EXP: Dec 2026This batch and expiration date are from the upper large label on the back, not the original labeling. There's a space for a date on the original label (no space for lot#) but there's no lot number or date on it. Front label shipped matches the ad except for an added sticker that gives the weight in both grams and ounces. That's not pictured in the ad. The original supplement labelhas a serving size of 2gm. The large label that covers the original (back) labeling, increases the serving to 2½ gm. This leaves me uncertain what the serving size should be and out of an abundance of caution, I decided to start with half a gram. The label pictured in the ad is the newer label that covers the original. The original packaging states "this product is intended and can be used for occasional sleeplessness. " I like this use. But that's entirely missing from the new overlabel totally covering the original back label. Both have the standard U. S. statement ". . . This product is not intended to diagnose, treat, cure or prevent any disease. "The new labeling also warns of potential liver damage, the old labeling doesn't. The warning seems a responsible addition to the labeling. Maybe the warning is a major reason behind the choice to place a new large label over the original and other things were changed as well during the process. I can't know. "WARNING: US FDA Advises that a potential risk of rare but severe liver damage may be associated with Kava containing dietary supplements. . . It's a long warning that includes not combining alcohol with this product and more. The warning's in the ad too. Which I appreciate. I don't really appreciate the changed "serving" sizes. I'm comfortable taking small amounts of Kava for sleep but I also value a healthy liver and find the changed instructions a bit unnerving. It's like there's no real dose of this product and we have to figure it out for ourselves, safety warning included. That's why I started low. This product is a very fine light brown powder, which tastes like Kava. I knew when I ordered this, but fair warning for the uninitiated: Kava does not taste at all good. It actually tastes bad. Those who can't tolerate things that taste bad or avoid them, might want capsules if they choose Kava.
Taki Mai Instant Kava Kava Powder 150g – Premium Kava Root Powder with High Kavalactone Content – Natural Relaxation Aid for Calmness, Stress Relief, and Sleep Support – Easy-to-Mix I’ve tried kava before, but drank it as a hot tea, and did not like it at all! I ended up giving it to my son. This time after reading more about it, I found that drinking it as an ice cold drink is much better. It still taste like you’re drinking dirt or clay water, but it’s much easier going down cold than hot. I’ve also found a website that has different recipes for kava that I am going to try a few of these. They include adding chocolate, peppermint, juices, milk, etc. Also, I would strongly suggest that you read up on kava before using it to make sure it won’t have any adverse reactions to any medication or supplements you’re already taking. I find that this kava makes the back of my tongue and mouth feel a little numb, and a bit swollen. This concerned me the first time I drank it, but since there were no other bad side effects, I decided to continue to use it. The positive effects definitely outweigh the bad. This drink really relaxes me and puts me in a Zen mood. I found that is true that as you get older, you lose patience, and may become a cranky person. So having this kava drink as a tool to keep my mood more balanced, and to show more patience out in public, is a great asset.
Most of the Kava I have had is not really astringent and bitter. It's quite smooth and silky kind of like very fine clay water. However, I have had authentic, straight from the root, kava in Fiji and it made my tongue go weirdly numb. This is a side effect of true kava and this definitely happened when I took this. I did not like the bitterness that is in this and will have to try and mix it with some juice or something to try to offset that. The effects were as expected and I found it very useful.
I’m genuinely impressed with the quality and effectiveness of this product, this kava powder has a noticeably high kavalactone content, which is exactly what I look for in a premium kava, you can feel the calming effects fairly quickly, within about 15-20 minutes, there’s a smooth transition into a relaxed, clear-headed state, no grogginess, no crash. It helps me ease into a calm mindset and significantly improves my sleep quality, I fall asleep faster and wake up feeling more refreshed. If you’re looking for a natural way to relax without the side effects of pharmaceuticals or alcohol, Taki Mai Instant Kava is a solid choice.
Product shipped quickly and arrived intact. This product tastes about right for being kava, so be ready for the strong acrid flavor. Kava does not have the greatest taste, and does not sweeten up all that particularly well, either. It also has a numbing sensation on the palette. All of that is normal, so just know that before you are looking into buying kava. In short, the product seems to be authentic. With that said, I suppose there is a mild relaxing effect from drinking non-extract kava. This really is going to vary on a person-to-person basis. A quick Google search finds kava dosages hovering around 10-15g, while the dose per 'tea' of this product is around 2. 5g. It is kava, so handling all of that is really up to you. For the price vs amount of product, this product seems slightly more affordable than other competitors. Kava is on the more expensive side in general, so this is on lower end of that curve. I didn't experience any issues while taking this product. No adverse effects or surprises.
